Health and Physical Education Courses
Physical Education 6 Required Year

This class will emphasize achieving and maintaining a health-enhancing level of fitness. It will stress the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.

Health 6

This class will cover interpersonal and relationship skills and learning strategies to improve on relationships with self and others. The systems of the body will be studied along with ways to use nutrition and physical activity to prevent disease. Healthy decisions regarding drug use will also be emphasized.

Physical Education 7 Required Year

This course emphasizes health-related fitness and includes these activity units: track and field, soccer, speedball, swimming, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, ice skating, boot hockey, softball, rhythms, PACE, fitness/weightlifting, handball, flag football, bowling, deck tennis, ultimate frisbee, tennis and frisbee golf.

Health 7

The purpose of this course is to develop habits for optimum well-being. There is a strong emphasis on making good decisions and responsibility of one’s actions. The units covered are: health triangle, decision-making model, nutrition, social health (friendships), body systems and tobacco/drug use.

Physical Education 8 Required Year

This course emphasizes health related fitness and includes these activity units: field hockey, tennis, swimming, ice skating, badminton, recreational activities, basketball, archery, La Crosse, volleyball, dance, softball, and eclipse ball. 

Health 8


The purpose of this course is to develop habits to maintain physical, social and mental wellness. There is a strong emphasis on the decision making model and making good choices. The units covered are: health/wellness, stress, suicide, CPR, human sexuality, physical fitness, violence prevention and conflict resolution.
